We would like to say a BIG Thank You to Tim and Jay from We Clean Limited for coming to clean all of the carpets at the Basement Project free of charge. We really do appreciate this as it enables us to continue welcoming our clients and young people into a clean, safe and friendly environment.
Yesterday we spent the day in Morrisons Bromsgrove; collecting donations from the local communities. We would just like to say a BIG thank you to everyone’s kindness and generosity, we had a very successful day and really enjoyed chatting to you all!
Last week we welcomed a local Prince’s Trust group to come along and complete their Team Challenge. This involved them getting stuck in with cooking and serving some delicious food for our clients for our Free Food Friday! We are looking forward to seeing you again on Friday.
Thanks to everyone’s kind support we have been nominated to be Sainsbury’s Local Charity of the Year!
Be sure to pop into store to find out what further ways you can get involved and support us.
Three young people decided that for Christmas they would like to support the Basement Project. Eva, Lola and Jimmy asked staff and customers in Catshill One Stop and Amar and Sons if they would like to donate tins of food. As well as giving some food themselves (with the help of their parents) they collected three bags of tinned food that they donated to us on 21st December. This is very welcome and will go in to our food bank to help anyone who is struggling in the New Year.
The picture below shows Eva, Lola and Jimmy with the food they donated.
Many other young people from schools, playgroups, etc. donated food and Christmas goodies which were gratefully received by our young people. Many contained beautiful messages, such as this:
Merry Christmas! We hope this box helps you out and gets you in the festive spirit. We’re new to helping the Basement Project, but we found helping out was a lot of fun. (It also gave us the joy of helping others.) We’re only a few years younger than you, so we can imagine how tough it would be to be in your situation. We wish you good luck for the future and hope that this helps.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANK YOU, EVERYONE!!
Recently, Centrepoint organised a Poetry Competition with the theme ON MY OWN. The poems were of an amazingly high standard and all the young people that entered should be really proud.
The entries were judged anonymously by their CEO and the poems will be featured in the Centrepoint anthology.
This was the winning entry:
Thank you to Grace Mernagh and the residents of Upton Warren who together with St Michael’s Church held a Harvest Supper which raised 250 for the Basement Project.
The picture shows Grace and some of the residents presenting the cheque to Carole Hill at the Basement Project.
